Tmp file virus.. can any1 tell me exactly wat this virus is...?

i appear to have a self replicating virus on my computer, detected as Mal/Generic-A with sophos antivirus and infostealer with norton antivirus. at periodic intervals i get popup messages from norton advising me of a high security risk in the form of (random number).tmp files in c:\WINDOWS\Temp folder. on occasion there has been over 1000 of these files to deal with at a time and hundreds of popups from norton. my antivirus software continues to resolve these problems but i need to acquire specific malware software to remove the source. i need 2 know the ACTUAL NAME of this virus so i can find the appropriate malware removal software. ne1 got ne ideas as to the specifics of this virus???

Tmp file virus.. can any1 tell me exactly wat this virus is...?
As with nearly all 'viruses', it will be known by a different name to each anti-malware company. If your AV finds this it should be able to remove it. Try this:

Turn off system restore: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorial...

Boot up in Safe Mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorial...

Scan again. Also try an online scan:

NOD32: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

Sometimes crap can reside in System Restore. When you boot up in safe mode only the key essentials are loaded, any crap shouldn't. Gives your AV more chance of removing it.
Reply:I don't know the name, but this works on most malware...
